Q. What is Entrian Source Search?
A. It's a Visual Studio add-in that lets your search your source code, simply and instantly. See the main product page for an overview of what it can do for you, or read the manual for all the details.
Q. What is it not?
A. It isn't a web search engine – it searches your own code on your own hard
drive.
It isn't a standalone application – you need to have Microsoft Visual Studio to
use Entrian Source Search.
Q. Which versions of Visual Studio and Windows does it work with?
A. Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2012, Visual Studio 2013, Visual Studio 2015, Visual Studio 2017, Visual Studio 2019, and Visual Studio 2022 (any edition except Visual Studio Express). Supports all Windows verions that Visual Studio supports.
Q. How does the 30 day trial work?
A. When you install the trial version, it starts counting the individual days when you use Entrian Source Search to search your code. (So if you don't use it for a while, your trial won't expire.) After 30 actual days of usage, the trial expires and you'll need to buy a license to continue using it.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. The price for an Entrian Source Search license is $29 per developer. Volume discounts are available – see the next question:
Q. Can I get a volume discount?
A. Yes: if you buy a multi-user license for 5 users or more in a single transaction, you pay $24 per user.
Q. How does licensing work?
A. There are two kinds of license: Individual and Multi-user. If you fill in a Quantity of more than 1 on the Buy page, you get a Multi-user license.
An Individual license allows a single developer to use Entrian Source Search on any number of machines. Individual licenses are named ("Licensed to Joe Bloggs") and licenses are transferable between developers – just drop us an email and we'll change the name for you (but we won't sue you if Fred leaves your company and Joe takes over his license without telling us).
A Multi-user license allows a given number of developers to use Entrian Source Search simultaneously. These are also named ("Licensed to AcmeCorp - 10 users").
Q. What's the upgrade policy?
A. Free upgrades for life. Buy a license for Entrian Source Search, and you can always upgrade to the latest version for free.
Q. What if I want a refund?
A. In most cases we'll give a refund on request. We want you to be delighted with our software – if you're not, we'd love to know why not so we can try to fix it, but if we can't, you can certainly have a refund. A refund invalidates your license – you must stop using Entrian Source Search once you've received a refund.
Q. How does technical support work?
A. Technical support is by email and web form only. We promise a real response from a real person within 24 hours (but we try to be much quicker than that). Currently we don't offer telephone support or paid priority support – if you're interested in these, please do let us know.
All users of Entrian Source Search (those on a free trial and those with a paid license) are entitled to technical support, but those with a paid license get priority.
Q. Entrian Source Search sucks!
A. Tell us – we want to know! Without feedback from real users, we can't make our software as good as we want it to be.
Q. Entrian Source Search rocks!
A. Tell us – we want to know! We're in it for our egos as well as the money. 8-) Give us a glowing testimonial and we'll put it on our website.
Entrian Source Search makes Visual Studio faster and more productive to use. and try it for yourself.
